Description

Obeticholic acid is a derivative of cholic acid which acts as a potent and selective FXR (Farnesoid X receptor) agonist (EC₅₀ = 99 nM) displaying anticholeretic activity in an in vivo rat model of cholestasis. Obeticholic acid is 100-fold more potent than the endogenous ligand chenodeoxycholic acid
